- When I was 12... I created my first magic act -
- for an audience of one.
- Nothing was digital in those days.
- There was no term for the "wet darkroom" -
- all darkrooms were wet.
- But under that safelight,
- submerged in the developer tray,
- was the moment that changed everything:
- my photograph appeared on that blank paper.
- It wasn't "as if by magic" - for me it was real magic.
- .
- I've been developing film,
- or processing files, all my life.
- Eventually I would join Actors Equity Association,
- the Directors Guild and the Writers Guild.
- Both confidance and whimsy matter in portraiture.
- I bring that theatrical approach to every image
- that we, the subject and I, create.
